Pennsylvania Wines Launches ‘Local Pairings’ Video Series

If you’re interested in exploring locally made wine, you’re in luck! Pennsylvania is home to over 200 wineries, located in every region of the state, and there are more resources than ever to help connect you to your new favorite bottle. One of the newest ways to learn about the local wine industry is through a fun video series launched by Pennsylvania Wines called Local Pairings. In these videos, personalities from the worlds of sports, entertainment, food, and media are paired with a local wine expert, and together, they dig deep into a specific PA wine and discuss it. If the idea of people talking about wine sounds stodgy, don’t worry — these convos are casual, chatty and engaging!

The first three conversations released in the series so far feature great guests and hosts:

Episode 1 is titled, “Raise a Glass to Sparkling Wines” and pairs up Cedric Barberet, of the eponymous French-influenced bistro and bakery in Lancaster, Barberet. His name may sound familiar, as he recently won Chopped Sweets on the Food Network! He raises a glass of Stony Run Winery’s 2017 Brut Sparkling (made in Breinigsville, PA) with Alexandra Cherniavsky, an advanced sommelier based in Philly and an expert in Pennsylvania wines.

The second episode pairs Olympian, TV personality, fashion icon, and proud Pennsylvania native Johnny Weir with Sommelier Scott Zoccolilo. They sip and savor a crisp, citrusy 2019 Grüner Veltliner from Galen Glen Vineyard & Winery in Andreas, PA.

The third installment matches Jeremy Noah, trained sommelier and vice president of Pennsylvania Libations in Pittsburgh, with musicians Jeff Tomrell and Rheed of the nationally renowned cover band Go Go Gadjet. The trio tastes a bottle of bold, earthy Teroldego from Mazza Vineyards in Erie County.
